  • What is detergent?
    Laundry detergent is a cleaning agent, either a liquid, powder, or capsule, that is added to your hand wash or machine to clean your clothes, remove stains, and leave them smelling fresh.
  • How do I get the most out of my washing detergent?
    Don't over-fill your machine and leave enough room for clothes to move or don't under-fill your machine and select a shorter wash cycle instead.
  • What is the best temperature to wash my clothes?
    Check your clothing’s care labels and instructions on your detergent to find the best temperature for your water.
  • Why does water temperature matter?
    Successful laundering requires three forms of energy in the right balance to effectively remove soil from fabrics.

    1. Thermal Energy - supplied in the form of hot or warm water;

    2. Mechanical Energy - supplied by the machine's agitation action;

    3. Chemical Energy - supplied by the laundry detergent. If energy is reduced in any one of the three, (either by decreasing the water temperature, the amount of detergent or the amount of agitation) then in order to achieve the same level of cleaning performance, one of the other energy inputs must be increased to restore the balance to the total washing system.
  • What Should I Do When I Get Powder Residue On My Clothes?
    Automatic washing machines are designed to dissolve the washing powder quickly into the water - so that it can begin to work as quickly as possible without leaving residues. However, factors such as the size of the wash load, the level and pressure of water entering the machine and the length of the wash cycle can all have an effect. Some machines start by filling with water, moving the wash around in the drum and then waiting until the water reaches the right wash temperature. The powder could become trapped in the washing at this stage and so is prevented from dissolving properly. Always ensuring that the machine is not overloaded should avoid most instances of residues. However, if it does happen, simply brush off the worst of the dried residue and then rinse or wash again.
